About Urgam Valley:

Urgam named after Urvashi, son of king Puranjaya of Pandavas lineage meditated here and established a Vishnu Temple. Urgam Valley also called as Shiva’s Mystical Land known for its fifth kedar “Kalpeshwar Mahadev” where lord Shiva’s dreads (hair) can be seen. The temple is open through out the year and situated under a huge mountain rock. Dhyan Badri temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu which is also a part of Panch Badri and Sapta Badri Temples, is located in Urgam Valley. The valley is full of greenery, agricultural land, forests, meadows etc. The Kalp Ganga river coming out of mighty Chaukhamba peak flows between huge mountains and green fields of the Valley. From Urgam Valley the major peaks like Nanda Devi, Dronagiri, Nanda Ghunti etc are easily visible. The famous treks like Rudranath, Bansi Narayan, Nandi Kund etc starts from this Valley.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1 : 30th December, Friday, Rishikesh to Urgam Valley

Travelling Distance: 250 kms

Pickup Place : Tapovan, Rishikesh

Pickup Time: 06 AM

We visit Devprayag Sangam on the way and will reach Urgam Valley by 05 PM. Together we end the day with a lovely bonfire, music, group introduction, evening tea and dinner.

Day 2 : 31st December, Saturday, Trek to Banga Pani

After an energising breakfast we start the day by exploring nearby jungle. We trek through meadows and the dense flora and fauna until we reach Banga Pani, where we take some rest at the beautiful and refreshing water stream. Upon our return to the EcoStay, organic lunch and tea are served.

As soon as the sun has set, Urgam’s night-sky fills with glowing stars. We gather by the warming bonfire, saying good-bye to old habits and thoughts, which we do not wish to take into 2023. Card games, music, organic dinner, snacks and warming drinks fill the last night of 2022. And maybe even a short evening-hike. 

After entering 2023 with a countdown, a delicious home-made dessert along with warming chai is served. The first taste of 2023 will be delicious and sweet.

Day 3: 1st of January, Sunday, Trek to Kalpeshwar Mahadev Temple

After enjoying an ayurvedic Tea and breakfast we will start our hike to Kalpeshwar Mahadev Temple, one amongst the Panch Kedar Temples. On the way we will pass through the valley villages and enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan peaks and the valley. Reached at the temple, we will take blessings - the perfect start into the New Year. Upon our return to the EcoStay organic Lunch, Evening Tea and Dinner will be provided.

Day 4: 2nd of January, Monday, Drive back to Rishikesh

After breakfast and visiting Dhyan Badri Temple, we start our journey towards Rishikesh. If time permits, we will visit Vashist Cave on the way, reach Rishikesh by 07 PM and end the trip with beautiful smile on our face.

Note: The schedule can be changed by the organisers depending upon the weather conditions.

• Trekking Shoes or good sports shoes

• Trek pants or sports trousers. No Jeans is allowed for Trekking 

• Winter essentials like inner thermals, jacket, socks, gloves, monkey cap etc

• Towel, shampoo, soap and other travel essentials

• One small bagpack for day trips

• Hat/Cap for Sun protection

• Bottle to refill for filtered water

• Medicines if you're on any medication

• Valid Identity Proof like Aadhar Card
